The Cape Town World Music Festival, newly-named the Cape Town Nu World Festival, will bring a taste of Africa to Cape Town City Hall on Mandela Day weekend – 17th and 18th July 2015, it’s third year. The two day music festival will offer event-goers a unique experience, which will inspire, unite and educate by representing South Africa (and beyond) in a journey of musical discovery. One of this year’s headliners is one of South Africa’s most acclaimed singers and two time South African Music Awards (Female Artist of the year and Best African Adult Album) winner, Simphiwe Dana. Dana is a much-loved Xhosa singer whose music is a soulful combination of Jazz, Afro-Pop and Traditional music and has been hailed as the “new Miriam Makeba”. Simphiwe has also been appointed as the first ever global African ambassador for Amnesty International as she celebrates her decade in the industry; a true artist who integrates a true sense of African culture and identity in her art form. Other acts will include: Spoek Mathambo presents: Fantasma, Toby2shoes, Aero Manyelo and Tcheka (Cape Verde) in collaboration with Derek Gripper.
